EURC vs USDC: Choosing a Stablecoin Leg for EU Corridors

EURC is Circle's euro stablecoin, issued in the EU under MiCA's EMT rules. USDC is Circle's dollar stablecoin. Both are 1:1 reserve-backed and both settle on Ethereum, Polygon, and Base. Route EURC for EUR-in / EUR-out flows to avoid double FX; route USDC for USD corridors and deeper liquidity.

EURC and USDC are both fiat-backed stablecoins issued by Circle. EURC is denominated in euro and issued under MiCA's EMT (e-money token) rules by Circle Mint Europe; USDC is dollar-denominated and issued in the US. Both are 1:1 reserve-backed with monthly attestations and settle on Ethereum, Polygon, and Base — the three chains Venly Finance supports.

How it works

1. Pick the ledger currency. For EUR-in / EUR-out flows, EURC removes an FX round-trip. For USD payouts or LATAM/APAC corridors, USDC has deeper on-chain liquidity. 2. Choose the chain. Ethereum for maximum interop, Base for lowest fees, Polygon as a middle ground. Both tokens are canonical on all three (bridged supply is not used for settlement). 3. Route the transfer. Venly Finance''s Finance API selects the token + chain automatically based on the destination and cost profile; you can pin either currency per corridor. 4. Off-ramp. EURC → SEPA / SEPA Instant via licensed partners. USDC → SWIFT, ACH, or FX to local currency. 5. Reconcile. Attestation reports are monthly (Deloitte for Circle); on-chain balances reconcile per block.
